The Iziko South African Museum is a national museum located in Cape Town. The museum was founded in 1825, the first in the country. It has been on its present site in the Company's Garden since 1897. The museum houses important African zoology, palaeontology and archaeology collections. The Iziko Planetarium and Digital Dome is the most advanced digital planetarium on the African continent. The museum offers outstanding art collections and is thus a rich, diverse cultural experience. The exhibitions provide insight into their magnificent cultural heritage, not only in the collections but also the historic buildings in which they are housed, presented and preserved.
