Do at Sundoo

Once a snoozy strip on the lower end of Regent Street, this section of Sea Point is twinkling with tempting dining options and Sundoo is one of the better ones. Chef and entrepreneur Seelan Sundoo's second restaurant (he owns Seelan at the V&A Waterfront and Three Wise Monkeys next door) has created a space to honour his South Indian roots, prevalent from Mauritius to Kerala. There's an obvious nod to the Durban Indian classics like bunny chow, braised fish roe, chops chutney and duck curry. You need to enquire first if these are in stock, but there are regular favourites on the menu, like Humma's tender lamb curry made with meat from Calvinia, Kavrathi chicken, lamb slow-cooked with dhal and the 'exotic' pineapple braised with black mustard seeds and coconut.
